They have self checkout machines, but the workers literally grab all of your items out of your hands rudely, scan them for you, then do everything for you. Did we learn nothing from covid? I don't want strangers touching my stuff, especially not rudely grabbing it from me. Why even have self checkout if we aren't allowed to use it?
